How to Dispose your Scheduled Waste

In Malaysia, the disposal of scheduled waste is regulated under the Environmental Quality (Scheduled Wastes) Regulations 2005. Waste must first be identified to ensure it is classified under the regulations (e.g., SW305 for used oils, SW110 for e-waste). It should then be stored in secure, labeled containers to prevent leaks or contamination. A licensed waste contractor, approved by the Department of Environment (DOE), must handle transportation using authorized vehicles, accompanied by a Consignment Note. Disposal must occur at DOE-approved facilities, such as Kualiti Alam, where waste is treated, recycled, or safely disposed of. Records of waste generation and disposal must be maintained and reported through the e-SWIS system. Non-compliance can result in severe penalties, including fines or imprisonment.
